Find a Doctor Who Best Meets Your Needs

Scripps provides a physician referral helpline at 1-800-SCRIPPS (1-800-727-4777). Our referral coordinators’ main goal is to find the best match for each patient’s unique needs.

Our staff will access the database of Scripps-affiliated physicians, and ask you several questions to facilitate the selection process for yourself or a family member. These may include:

• Are you interested in a primary care doctor or a specialist?
• If primary care, do you prefer a family medicine or internal medicine doctor? If you have a child, do you need a pediatrician referral?
• Would you like the doctor’s office to be near home or work?
• Do you prefer a physician from a large or small practice (physician group)?
• Do you or your family member(s) have chronic health problems that may require a specialist, or a physician with special clinical interests?
• Do you have insurance? If so, what type: PPO, HMO or Medicare?
• Do you have specific needs regarding gender, or language spoken?
• Are there any other special preferences you have when selecting a doctor?

Given the above preferences, the 1-800-SCRIPPS referral coordinator may recommend one or several physicians that best meet your criteria. Callers are then given the name, address and phone number for each doctor’s office.
